Massage can benefit your equine by:
  • Enhancing muscle tone and increasing range of motion
  • Assisting in balancing the body by treating the body as a whole, rather than as individual parts
  • Reducing inflammation and swelling in the joints, thereby alleviating pain
  • Promoting healing by increasing the flow of nutrients to the muscles, and carrying away excessive fluids
    and toxins
  • Creating a positive effect on the contractual and release process of the muscles; when tension is
    released, muscles relax
  • Stimulating circulation by "defrosting frozen muscles," thereby releasing endorphins - natural pain
killers; improved circulation also increases the excretion of toxins through the skin
  • Helping maintain the whole body in better physical condition
Massage can dramatically increase the body's potential to function.  The muscle system in the horse comprises
more than 60% of its body weight, and is the system responsible for movement.  Muscles respond to stress or
injury by hyper-contraction.  This results in unnecessary stress on opposing muscles or joints.  Soreness can
be the result of injury, cooling down too fast, structural or systemic imbalance, over-stretching or
overuse/misuse.  Damaged or not, muscles do not show on x-rays.  Problems are cumulative in nature.  If one
set of muscles is tight, the horse, like us, will have to compensate by tensing up and employing other muscles.
Like us, horses anticipate pain.  Their way of going becomes short and choppy resulting in an uneven gait.

Noninvasive massage therapy for your equine can improve their performance by increasing circulation and
range of motion.  It also relieves tension and muscle spasms.
